Avoiding Legal Issues With Off-Clock Labor

Requiring just a few extra minutes of employees' time when they are off the clock may be subject to extra compensation. Employers must have clear procedures in place for clocking in and out as well as knowing state and federal regulations.

The National Restaurant Association had revised its Covid-19 guidelines for dining room service, ranging from foot traffic to handling an ill employee. In particular, the guidelines focus on personal hygiene, when masks should be worn, ventilation and technology.
